What should i do with my 3 year old?

So i got him july second and hes a wonderful horse in saddle adn on the ground. but when in the pasture he is spooky and just nervus!!! he wont come to us but whne he does it takes him some time. ive tried everything, ive tryed food, just standing there, walking to him slowly, but the one thing that works the best is taking the other horses out of the pasture andputing them in the round pen. then he will come close egouht to get a lead around his neck to put the halter on.

with in the next month we probley will have our barn done and have stalls and a small arena done to work with them adn feed them all what they need. and work with them all better.

any supplement that could help? that are cheeper i dont have a ton of money to spend on them, i also need some good cheep joint stuff.|||Cheap joint stuff doesn't work. Save your money. You get what you pay for. If there is an actual diagnosed degenerative joint condition, then a proven effective medication is the best treatment. It costs more, but it works, and that is what will preserve the horse's joints. If you are guessing that a stiffness or lameness issue originates in the joints, you could be wrong. There are many possible causes for signs and symptoms that resemble arthritis.

Your horse needs to learn to trust you. Stand there longer and entice him to want to come to you. He feels safe with the herd, and doesn't feel safe with you yet. You have to get into his mind. He is still a baby mentally, and is driven by his fears and instincts. The time you put into being patient now will pay off later.|||Supplements won't do anything. Try putting him in the round pen for a couple days and let him chill out. Or, try free lunging him (like natural horsemanship) and training him to come to you through your own body language.|||Obviously the other horses are the problem. Id see about putting him in a good sized runout stall. That's what I did with my tb who broke his leg|||Supplements won't make your horse easier to catch, only time, patience and persistence will.|||try and leave him in a field on his own or in a stall on his own.|||try spending more time w/ him, just grab a stool and sit w/ him|||Break him.|||i would take a treat, feed, hay or something out there everyday for a few weeks and just leave it and walk about 100 ft away... his curiousity will make him come see what you have just brought him. don't bring a lead or anything just the treat, etc... eventually you will be able to get closer to him and he will recognize you with bringing him something yummy everyday. then hopefully he will start to come to you when he sees you in the pasture. and yes he needs to get used to being by himself so hes not so skittish when the other horses are removed. hope this helps.|||Slaughter him and make steaks out of him...if he doesn't behave. Horse steaks are absolutely DIVINE!!!!
