CIA SAYS CHINESE NUKES ARE AIMED AT U.S. CITIES

By Steve Macko, ERRI Risk Analyst

WASHINGTON (EmergencyNet News) - The Washington Times reported on Friday that a CIA report says that 13 of China's 18 long-range strategic missiles have single nuclear warheads aimed at U.S. cities. According to an intelligence document sent to top policy-makers about two weeks ago, the 13 CSS-4 missiles aimed at the United States -- with a range of more than 8,000 miles --indicate that China views the United States as its major strategic adversary.

Bill Gertz, who reports on intelligence matters for the Times, said in his article that the remaining five CSS-4s, along with scores of other shorter-range nuclear missiles, are targeted on countries closer to China, including Russia.

China does have a number of different strategic missiles that U.S. military and intelligence officials say are targeted on the United States or U.S. military forces deployed in Asia. China also has some 25 CSS-3 missiles with ranges of more than 3,400 miles, and it is developing two new ICBMs: the 4,500-mile range DF-31 and an advanced ICBM that will be able to hit targets up to 7,000 miles away. Other Chinese nuclear missiles include the 1,750-mile-range CSS-2 and the road-mobile CSS-5, which has a range of 1,100 miles.

In 1996, a Defense Intelligence Agency report stated that China was improving its CSS-4s and other long-range missiles with upgraded guidance systems and increased accuracy, propulsion and warheads, including the use of multiple warheads.

"The Chinese have been targeting the United States for many years," said Richard Fisher, a defense analyst with the Heritage Foundation. Fisher also said that the People's Liberation Army and the communist leadership view the systems as "deterrence against the United States."

It is known that in 1996 a Chinese general told a former Pentagon official that the United States would not intervene in Beijing's dispute with Taiwan because Washington cares more about Los Angeles than Taipei, Taiwan's capital. The remark was interpreted by the former official as a threat to use a nuclear missile attack against California, and he reported it to the president's national security adviser.

Fisher said the newer Chinese medium- and short-range nuclear missiles also are a threat and are believed to be "targeted on very important American and allied facilities in Asia." He added, "These constitute strategic systems for the PLA. And they are investing a great deal of effort in modernizing them."

Fisher warned, "As the administration is seeking to enter into wider and deeper cooperation in space and missiles with China, let's not forget that China has consistently refused to join regimes of civilized behavior in the strategic nuclear arena."

According to James Hackett, a former U.S. government arms control official, China's long-range missiles have the capability of reaching most of the United States "with the possible exception of Disney World" in Florida. He added, "They have produced great big nuclear warheads for those missiles. And the only feasible use is to destroy a big city. What they have built are city-busters that are targeted on major American cities."|||Thank you thank you. I just asked a question like yours a while ago. I have been trying to organize a boycott of China for a while. We may have to learn how to make calculators ourselves or something though to pull it off these days.

Who is a major contributor to slavery? Hu. He is pro genocide and pro sweatshop and caste system. Wu Yi is a hypocritical see u next tuesday. I respect and admire the Chinese people and civilization deeply but CPC delenda est. Freedom must prevail.|||I dunno, but my g/d just bought a wedding dress and it will say made in china..so yeahhhhh ummm hmmmm|||Only if it's a superior product at a reasonable price|||don't your shop at target, walmart, k-mart, sears etc...better go check your closet|||People feel threatened by that.

But, no American is willing to work 12 hours a day just to make $150 a month; or China won't stand a chance.|||Most American flags are made in China these days.|||Your question and the Nuclear capability of China is not relevant. How ever, I will try and address both of them.

In the western world what ever you by in a super market, they all Made in China. Even today when you go to countries like India, you see products Made in China. The Chinese products are all ready penetrated in the western countries. But I always go for non China one because they are long lasting. The market is a free market. Products domination happens only when we go for particular products again and again.

China products are all over the world because by buying them we encouraged them. We never buy products from other country because they are 20cents more than China made and they practice child labor.

Another thing, when you look at China, who has got investment in China than Chinese. It is American, Japan and European. You went to China, invested American dollar, made the paper tiger a real Tiger. Who's fault it is.

All the nuclear missile targeting US states are senseless and stupid policy followed by many countries of American allies. Think who supplied the Uranium. Australia an Ally of America is supplying Uranium to China, with out realizing that the final product a nuclear bomb is target ting our big brother America. On the other hand Australia doesn't want to supply uranium to India, which is a more reliable and responsible country in the world. Who's mistake it is? Why don't you ask Australia and other countries to stop suppling Uranium to China?

Brithish are the COWARDS of this century by simply giving up HongKong. On the other hand what they did to India. They, brpke the country in to pieces, which created the present day Kashmir trouble. Why the UK did not declare Hong Kong as a seperate country. Because they don't have the courage to do that. Had they done it; today China's super image would have been put in a rubish bin. UK helped China to think big. Further, America always say's where freedom strugles we will be there to help. In reality they were helping only Pakistan where freedom is put under a Millitary boot. They don't want to help a xcountry like India where people have freedom, much more better than America. Why don't America help India to have nuclear fuel reproccesing technology. This in turn will help India to place a check mate to China. But what happens today is America is only helping the dictators in Pakistan not the democracy in India.

If we have countries like America continue this kind of stupid policy, the future will be more confused, frieghtening. At the end who suffers is not Pakistan, not India, not China, Only America.|||Well let's see...first of all, since all your wonderful US companies were basically unable (or were too greedy) to operate in the US due to a multitude of obstacles one must hurdle to be able to do business and make any profit, many of them had to go to China anyway. Next, we do have quite a juicy trade deficit with them, somewhere in the tune of a few hundred BILLION dollars. I don't know too many people that look kindly upon debts owed to them, why should they be any different? Finally with the way we run our show over here, they know what a bunch of back-stabbing cruds we are, I'd point a few missiles at you too if the safety of my country could be in jeopardy. Now, if we kept to ourselves and minded our own business like we should, I'd say we should do something about it, but since we like to poke around in everyone's business, I say we asked for it. I would recommend we leave Iran alone too (though I know we won't), there is nothing that says China won't step in in some way (or a lot of way) if we start playing our cowboy games in Iran. Just my somewhat educated opinion.|||The report failed to mention that the illustrious dope smoking, war protestor, Clinton gave them the guidance system technology to update those missiles aimed at us!|||Hell yes! We need to undermine the American worker as much as we can, by lowering his wages, reducing or abolishing medical benefits, and making sure that there are no longer pension programs. With all I have said, the American worker must be blindly loyal to his employer, even though he can be layed off or fired at the bosses whim. This is why we need to buy the made in China label, so that we can teach these spoiled coddled American workers.|||soundraj鈥? mostprobably an India people!! Are you complaining? India is a strange country, she claims to be demacracy country, but a lot untouched exist. And India got independece through British's pity but not war. India is hard to get respectness.
